Kirkham and Halsall Biker gear Kawasaki set for Cadwell party

The Halsall Biker Gear Kawasaki team heads to the Lincolnshire wolds this weekend for the eighth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park and after a positive test at the 2.180 mile circuit last week, Jon Kirkham is feeling confident ahead of the weekend’s racing.

Kirkham and the Halsall Biker Gear Kawasaki team showed their pace last time out at Oulton Park, ranking in the top six in the opening free practice sessions before a gigantic crash ruled the Derbyshire rider out of qualifying for the first race. Despite this, Kirkham was able to secure two top ten results and is now keen to showcase the potential of his Halsall Biker Gear Kawasaki at the tight and twisty Cadwell Park.

The team tested a number of new parts and set-up changes during a test at the Lincolnshire circuit last week and with further progress made, Kirkham is itching to get out on his ZX10-R.

Jon Kirkham: “We had a great test at Cadwell last Tuesday after Oulton. We sorted loads out and tested a new swinging arm which we’re really happy with and we now know which direction to go come Saturday morning. Oulton was always going to be tough after wrecking the bike so it was good to go straight into a positive test. Cadwell a tough track, tight and twisty which makes it hard to pass so it’s important to qualify well and get away with the front boys.”

Jack Valentine, Team Manager: “After the test, we’re really well prepared for Cadwell this weekend and have improved the bike massively from Oulton Park. Weather permitting; I’m looking forward to a strong performance from Jon. He should come out of the box on the pace from Free Practice 1 and hopefully we can build it on there. Qualifying well is important at Cadwell as you don’t want to hack your way through the field as it’s too narrow, if we can get a good grid position we should be in for a good weekend”.
