Supersport TT race 1

Following a frustrating practiceweek on the Isle of Man, where weather conditions hindered practice time on the roads, the Valmoto MV Agusta team was looking ahead to this morning’s first SupersportTT with renewed enthusiasm.

However, although weather conditions improved for the star t of the four-lap race, frustrations for the team continued, with rider Gary Johnson going out of contention with technical issues. The Lincolnshire rider, piloting the MV Agusta F3 675, was holding ninth position after lap two, but had to retire from the race at Quarter Bridge on the final lap.

Team owner Jack Valentine said: “While we’re obviously disappointed we couldn’t bring the MV home today, the chassis is working fantastic, and with a new engine fitted ahead of the second race on Wednesday, we’re confident we have a strong package.”

Gary Johnson said: “I’m really pleased with the MV F3 – the chassis is fantastic, which is a testament to the hard work of the team. Although technical problems caused me to stop on the last lap of today’s race, we’re confident we can get a positive finish onWednesday.”
