Business time

Since the last time we spoke, we have been to Cadwell and Donington Park and to be honest, we couldn’t have asked for a lot more in terms of results. Obviously it was a shame for Hopper and the team that he missed out on Cadwell because he was flying there in testing. But with his injury, it just wasn’t worth the risk. Cadwell is a physical track and you just don’t want to be crashing around there!

So we headed to Lincolnshire with JK and just piled all our resources and knowledge into him to try and kick-start his season, and to be honest it worked. Everyone pulled together and worked on a set-up that he felt comfortable with, and from there he just grew in confidence. He finished fourth in race one and sixth in the other two races, which was a real solid weekend for him and everyone left a lot happier.

Then we moved onto Donington Park and the start of the shoot-out. Hopper was back in the team after having his pins out the Tuesday before, and he was again right on it. The last bike he rode before the injury was the Suzuki MotoGP bike, so come back in and be straight up to speed was a really impressive sight. He banged it on the front row in qualifying and really showed his class in the races finishing both on top of the podium. A real class act!

JK also continued his good run of form from Cadwell and did a good job in supporting Hopper over the weekend. We seem to have found a set-up now that he is confident with, and it is really showing in his results. He left Donington Park, his home round, with fifth and third place finishes, taking valuable points away from the five remaining shoot-out riders. To be honest, we couldn’t have asked for anymore.

Next up for us is Silverstone and everyone can’t wait for that one. We had a great weekend there in the World Superbike Championship leaving with some impressive results. If we can continue the good work from Donington, then we will be in a great position to really push on and be in the driving seat by the last round of the year. We know first hand that anything can happen in this sport, so we are not taking anything for granted until the final race is run. The real hard work starts now, but we definitely have the men to do it!

It’s always great for a team boss when things on track are going well and your guys are eager to do a good job, both for themselves and each other. I am really pleased that everything is coming together at the right time and we are all pumped up and ready to go. We want to take the title this time round and make amends for coming so close last year. It’s going to be exciting!
