Back with a bang!

It feels like it has been one hell of a long winter, but now the summer is all but upon us, BSB is back in business and back with a bang. For this season you will have noticed we have a new look team, with two new riders coming on board. This year we have acquired the talents of one man who needs no introduction – John ‘Hopper’ Hopkins and to partner the experienced and extremely talented American, we have also brought in a young Brit – John ‘JK’ Kirkham. It really is an amazing line up!

So, as usual the season kicked off at Brands Hatch Indy circuit just over a month ago now and to be honest we had a tough weekend, more due to bad luck than anything else. Both riders had good pace right from the off, on bikes they had never raced before, and we soon realised that we had the pace of the leaders. Sadly both riders made a few mistakes in the races and the weekend didn’t really turn out as planned. Still it was the first round of the year and we knew it was going to be a long season.

From Brands we went away and regrouped in preparation for round 2 at Oulton Park. Prior to the race we sent Hopper on a track day at the Cheshire circuit just so he had some idea of where the track went! Oulton is renowned for being fast, technical and extremely challenging. Still we knew the class of Hopper, and JK performed well there last year so we were still hopeful of some good results.

For the race Hopper had managed to get the Samsung Cresent Suzuki on the front row with JK slotting into 10th place. Good stuff. In the races it got even better, JK rode hard and looked fast considering he is still awaiting some part upgrades, finishing both races in 7th. I was really chuffed with that. Hopper really stamped his authority on the championship securing a 2nd in Race 1 and his maiden BSB victory in Race 2. It really was an unbelievable ride and showed everyone that he still has every bit of talent that took him to MotoGP. We were over the moon. Hats off to the team and everyone who helped make this happen. It really was a weekend to remember for everyone involved!
