Rugby star takes to the track with JR

Former Rugby International Freddie Tuilagi took to Mallory Park yesterday (Tuesday 11th March) riding pillion with three times British Superbike Champion John Reynolds.

The Samoan hit the track at a business event called Fast and Furious hosted by Mallory Park. Freddie was in attendance to promote his new executive car company and was thrilled when he was asked to ride with JR on board a road going GSX-R1000 Suzuki.

After completing five high speed laps of Mallory Park, Freddie was hooked. It was a great experience, he enthused. I came here last year for the British Superbike round where I watched the Rizla Suzuki riders in action and it just amazed me. It really is a talent especially when you watch how fast they go. Being on the GSX-R1000 today, although it wasnt as fast as the professional riders go when racing, was still unbelievable.

Despite having owned and ridden his own machine in the past he was bowled over with the experience. He said: The acceleration was incredible. When John accelerated I thought he was going to leave me behind but I held on tight to him. It was great fun and an experience.

Suzukis Reynolds said: It is always good to get feedback after a pillion ride, especially from a fellow sports man. To get the reaction from Freddie, who has played a tough sport like rugby at the highest level, really is special.

The first round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship kicks off at Brands Hatch GP circuit on the 4th-6th April. Round six of the Championship will be held at Mallory Park on the 27th-29th June.
