Smooth start for Rizla Suzuki at Almeria

THE Rizla Suzuki team made a steady but productive start to the three day official Pirelli British Superbike tyre test at Almeria in Spain.

A damp track prevented the riders taking to the fast and undulating circuit until later in the day. Tom Sykes has tested at the Spanish venue before and was able to put his previous track knowledge to good use completing a total of 72 laps.

His team-mate Atsushi Watanabe was in at the deep end once again having to learn a new and challenging track but that didnt stop him putting in 59 productive laps.

Jack Valentine, Team Manager said: The time we had on track today was spent evaluating the 2008 Pirelli control tyres. Tom also worked on chassis settings while Atsushi looked at engine management. Everyone is working hard and we are hoping for sunshine tomorrow. We have already done our ground work at our private Rizla Suzuki tests so we know there is a lot more to come over the next two days its been a smooth start to the test.
