Solid first day for Rizla Suzuki

THE Rizla Suzuki team got off to a strong start at the Al Carras circuit in Spain for the second leg of the teams extensive pre-season test schedule.

Over night rain saw a damp track welcome the Rizla Suzuki team but high winds combined with Spanish sunshine soon dried out the 3.785km circuit.

Tom Sykes and Atsushi Watanabe had to learn the new venue but despite the late start to the day they still managed to clock up 61 and 60 laps respectively.

Due to the abrasive nature of the technical circuit coupled with the wind chill factor, the Rizla Suzuki squad did run into some tyre issues but it was still a productive day on track.

Team Manager Jack Valentine said: Considering it was our first day at a brand new track I think everything went well. Atsushis times are getting closer to Toms which is very pleasing. The GSX-R1000s were still running the Calafat settings but we started to make adjustments to set-up later in the day. It is a very technical circuit with undulations and fast bends so it will give us a lot of data and the riders did a good job of learning it. We will hit the ground running tomorrow.

Reports from each day of testing will appear on
